East Hempfield Township is fortunate to have the dedicated service of two volunteer fire companies within it's boundaries and several other departments who are first responders for parts of the Township. Hempfield Fire Department, Rohrerstown Fire Company, East Petersburg Fire Company, Mountville Fire Company and Blue Rock Fire Rescue all utilize volunteers to help protect your home and property. Please show them your support by making a contribution or by volunteering your time. Remember to always dial 911 in an emergency.
The primary goals of the Fire Department are to:
Reduce and prevent the loss of life and property damage
Quickly rescue trapped victims
Protect the environment from contamination due to an accident
The Township's open burning ordinance allows for burning of tree trimmings, shrubs, or brush only. An open burning permit can be obtained from the Township's building official at a cost of $5 per year. Residents must comply with the burning ordinance regulations. Permits for bonfires or camp fires are also available at a fee of $5 each event. Permits are not necessary for outdoor residential cooking, highway, safety flares, or any essential farming operation.
