Oversized & Hazardous Materials
Special instructions pertaining to oversized items and hazardous materials disposal.
Electronic Devices:
The 2013 Covered Device Recycling Act dictates how televisions, computers & peripherals are disposed of. These items are no longer collected curbside. Residents may take these items to the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Hazardous Waste Disposal facility located along Harrisburg Pike.
Oversized Items
Your item is considered oversized if it weighs more than 30 lbs. and/or is larger than 4 feet in length/height. Two (2) oversized items are allowed each week on your normal trash collection day along with your three trash cans/bags. A $5 red tag must be purchased at the Township office and attached to the item so that it is visible to the hauler. If you are unsure of an item, please call the Township office.
Examples:
There are certain items and materials that households (not your trash hauler) must dispose of because they are considered non-trash and non-recyclable.

Examples of hazardous materials are:
Never place broken glass in a trash bag. If unseen by the hauler, the hauler could be seriously cut.

- SNOW BLOWERS
- HUMIDIFIERS
- AIR COMPRESSORS
- VACUUM CLEANERS
- KEROSENE HEATERS (emptied)
- LAWNMOWERS (no riding mowers)/SNOW BLOWERS
- BASKETBALL POLES & BACKBOARD (no cement bases, poles cut 4'-5' lengths and a tag needed for each piece)
- TOILETS/SINKS
- CARPETS (rolled and tied-6' max length)
- WATER SOFTENER TANKS
- GRILLS (propane tanks removed)
