Fire Services
East Hempfield Township is fortunate to have two volunteer fire companies providing fire rescue services to our community. All utilize volunteers to help protect our residents, business owners, and visitors. Please show them your support by making a tax-deductible contribution or by volunteering your time. Remember to always DIAL 911 in an emergency.

Open Burning
The Township provides curbside leaf and yard waste pick-up, April through October.   In 2015 the Township modified the open burning ordinance to only allow fires set solely for recreational, ceremonial, and/or cooking purposes.  No permit is required for these types of recreational fires.  A permit is required for a bonfire defined as a recreational or ceremonial fire more than 4 feet in diameter and/or more than 2 feet in height, built in the open air, for warmth, entertainment, or celebration.  A fire set for agricultural commodities on the premises of a farm operation within an Agricultural Zoning District is also allowed.  The complete ordinance can be viewed on ecodes.
